So here I sit recovering from a bout with the flu. Ugh! And it got me thinking that well, yes, I have been 24 hours fever free, but no, I do not feel like jumping right back into my normal routine yet. And no offense guys, but the thought of walking into a noisy classroom of three year olds is already causing me fatigue.
My point is that over the many years I have worked with preschoolers, I have seen over and over again children being dragged back after an illness who are just not ready! And, uh huh, I know when you have dosed up your kid with Tylenol to get a few hours of fever free time in! Tsk! Tsk!
This often results in them coming back in a weakened state and catching the next germ that is lying in wait. So more germs are spread and back we go and start all over again. I am definitely giving myself that extra time to really recuperate. Because yes, that also goes for co-workers who drag themselves in still coughing up a lung just so they don’t miss a day of work! And guess what? They are now spreading their germs. It’s just a vicious cycle after a while. And yes I understand that no one wants to miss too much time from work, myself included. Unless of course its a vacation or holiday! ♥
If it is possible to have someone work from home so your child can have that extra day away that would be great! Or is there a friend or relative who could help you out? I just think that if we could all really be well before we are dragged back into our daily routines with all its expectations we would have a better chance of being healthier. What do you think? Sniff Sniff!
